ENVIRONMENT
PROJECT COMPLETED
A special paint to repaint the facades of the primary schools of Ospedalicchio and Palazzo di Assisi: 100 m2 of paint equals 100 m2 of forest, because this particular paint retains CO2 and releases oxygen, just like a forest!

GLOBAL GRANT
In June 2020, the hospital of Assisi asked the city's Rotary Club to commit itself to finding funds for the purchase of a ward radiograph, a device necessary to perform imaging diagnoses directly in the rooms of the hospital wards. The acquisition is necessary to avoid contacts as much as possible in "mixed" areas of the Assisi health facility, in which the possibilities of contact with external patients, therefore the possibilities of contagion from Covid-19, increase exponentially. The Rotary Club of Assisi immediately applied to the Rotary Foundation for a global grant, obtaining a positive response. The Club has also decided to create the Assisi Virtual Marathon, a virtual solidarity marathon through which we are trying to unite the world of local associations and businesses by networking towards a single great goal: to donate the ward X-ray to the hospital.

Cardiac arrest can strike anyone, without warning. In Italy every year, about 72,000 people are affected by cardiac arrest and currently only 5% are saved. The presence of a defibrillator near the scene of the incident increases the survival rate to 75%. With this project, the Club of Assisi undertakes to provide the local community every year with a semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED) to be placed in places with the highest tourist concentration, in agreement with the local administration. It will therefore be possible not only to provide a "life-saving" machine within everyone's reach, but also to contribute to the culture and information on the use of the defibrillator through a training day managed by the instrument manufacturer. Our goal: to reduce intervention times in the event of cardiac arrest, increasing the number of publicly accessible defibrillators and thus improve survival rates.

ONGOING PROJECT
A musical instrument made available to patients and the staff of the hospital of Assisi to humanize hospitalization and care and encourage opportunities for the community and hospitalized people to meet. Around the piano, made available by the Club, Rotary is organizing real musical and artistic seasons that will see the entrance hall of the Medicine department transform into a real concert hall.
PROJECT COMPLETED
The Club has activated a subscription on the GoFundMe platform to purchase and donate a CARAT II non-invasive ventilator to the Assisi hospital which allows it to provide assistance to patients suffering from Covid-19. Treating the patient with non-invasive ventilation avoids overloading the health facilities dedicated to emergencies. The request for the ventilator was formulated directly by the health personnel of the Assisi garrison. For every euro raised through this campaign, the Rotary Club of Assisi has committed a co-financing of one euro, doubling the donations up to a maximum of 3000 euro.
The fundraising launched by the Rotary Club of Assisi closed with a surplus of € 1,666.58 compared to the initial objective (the € 8,357 for the purchase of the non-invasive lung ventilator, donated to the Assisi hospital on 25 March). The surplus constitutes practically half the cost of an additional electromedical device, the electrocardiograph, which was purchased by merging the surpluses of the two GoFundMe collections that enlivened social networks in March-April 2020: that of Rotary (to which , in addition to private individuals, associations such as Interact Assisi, the "Città di Assisi" Moto Club, Circolo del Subasio and "Il Giunco", and companies such as Concetti S.p.a.) and the one launched by Alessandro Alunni for the purchase of PPE for the healthcare personnel involved in the "grey area" (also in this case a surplus was created, thanks to the generosity of those who contributed).
The two organizers therefore decided to co-finance the purchase of the new electromedical, essential for the home care of patients with cardiorespiratory symptoms, pooling their forces and achieving a single, great common goal.

Since the abolition of compulsory military service, the possibilities for screening to prevent pathologies of the male reproductive system have decreased. The professionals of the Rotary Club of Assisi annually offer training and free screening to local high school students.

Thanks to the contribution of participating restaurants, we raised €1042, donated to the End Polio Now fund.
The "Bill and Melinda Gates" Foundation will double the donations of our Club, guaranteeing Rotary International a total contribution of €3,126.
In practice, thanks to the generosity of restaurateurs and guests, we are donating about 6,000 vaccines that will be administered free of charge by Rotary volunteers.
Thank you.
